Donations to Confident Woman Co.

Transparency and Disclosure: Generally, transparency is a key practice for both the nonprofit and the fiscal sponsor. When a nonprofit like CWC operates under a fiscal sponsor, donations are technically made to the fiscal sponsor, which is a registered 501(c)(3) organization. The fiscal sponsor then grants the funds to CWC to carry out its programs. Donors are usually informed of this arrangement, as it is a legal and financial relationship that affects tax-deductibility.

Donation Receipts: When donors give to CWC through the fiscal sponsor, the donation receipt they receive typically comes from the fiscal sponsor, not CWC. The receipt should clearly state the name of the fiscal sponsor as the entity that received the donation and may also mention that the donation is intended to support CWC.

Communication and Marketing Materials: CWC and the fiscal sponsor may provide information in their fundraising materials, websites, or donation pages explaining the fiscal sponsorship arrangement. This can include the name of the fiscal sponsor, the nature of the relationship, and how funds are managed and distributed.

IRS Filings and Public Information: Fiscal sponsors are required to report the grants they distribute to sponsored projects on their IRS Form 990, which is a public document. Donors can access this information to verify the fiscal sponsor and see the amounts granted to CWC.
